The generator

The goal generator runs entirely in your browser. When you choose a skill, a grade and a present level, no request is made — the sentence is assembled on your own machine from data that was already downloaded with the page. Nothing you select is sent to us, because there is no server to send it to and no log that would record it.

There is also no free-text box anywhere in the tool. Every input is a menu or a bounded number, so the most specific thing the form can hold is something like “third grade, 45 words per minute”. That describes no one. It is deliberate: a text field is where a name, a diagnosis or a school would end up.

Goals are written with [Student] left in place, and the site never fills it in. You replace it in your own document, on your own system.

Accounts and storage

There are no accounts. There is no database of users, goals, or anything else — we do not hold a record that could be requested, breached or subpoenaed, because we do not create one.

The site currently writes nothing to your device — no cookies, no local storage, no session. If a paid option is added later, a licence key would be stored in your browser and this paragraph would say so.

Traffic measurement

We look at aggregate traffic — which pages are visited and roughly where visitors arrive from — through privacy-preserving analytics that set no cookie and build no profile, and through Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools, which report on searches rather than on people. None of that touches what you do inside the generator, because the generator makes no requests at all.

Advertising is not personalised on this site. If ads are shown, they are not targeted using anything about the visitor.

Why it is built this way

A site used by teachers, about students, is a site that student-privacy law reaches the moment it starts holding records. FERPA binds schools and the agencies that act for them; state statutes — California's SOPIPA, New York Education Law §2-d, Illinois' SOPPA and their equivalents elsewhere — reach the operator of a service used for K–12 purposes directly, with obligations around data agreements, deletion and targeted advertising.

The cheapest way to satisfy all of it is to hold nothing, so that is the design: no student record enters this site at any point. It also means there is no data agreement for a district to sign, because there is no data.
